While there are many studies that debate whether or not listening to classical music improves test scores or helps students learn, one undisputed fact remains: classical music is here to stay! We find classical music in movies, on television, and it even lends itself to today’s popular music. It has a variety of classroom applications from art to math.
Objective: To inform students of the different families of instruments.
Objective: Students will be able to slur at least two notes on either the trombone or the euphonium. Trombone slurs will be articulated with a “thoo.”

“STOMP! Out Loud” is an excellent video to show to high school students, or even younger students. It’s vastly entertaining, upbeat, and has some great educational value. Preview the video before presenting it to the students, and go over the worksheet I’ve presented here. I’m sure you will come up with many of your own ideas. The video is 50 minutes long: This lesson plan may last two or three days.
