Non-Linear Writing

Draw two lines down the center of a piece of paper, to form a column three inches wide. Have students write inside of the 3″ column. Draw lines from several words into the margins to add details about those words. This serves as an intro to hypertext linking, or footnoting (depending on how you look at it).
