This may boggle your students’ minds for a while. If a mirror reverses an image left to right, then why doesn’t it reverse the same image top to bottom? What do you think? Here’s our unscientific opinion:
We say it’s a trick question: If a mirror reversed our image, we’d see ourselves in the mirror like others see us. Or another way of looking at it is that if you stick your nose right up to the mirror, you’ll see that your left eye is directly in front of your left eye, and your right eye is directly in front of your right eye. Nothing is reversed; it’s just a matter of semantics.
